Sales reporting from the spreadsheet you already have
Who: Sales teams and revenue leaders
Problem: The export has the answer, but every follow-up question means another round of pivots and chart-building.
Outcome: A filterable dashboard of performance you can explore in the meeting, with every answer backed by a visible calculation.
- Upload a CSV or Excel sales export.
- Review KPIs and charts by rep, region, or stage.
- Ask a plain-English question and check the receipt showing how it was calculated.
What the export usually looks like
A pipeline export from a CRM is one row per opportunity. The columns that matter most are the ones the dashboard turns into KPIs and filters:
| Column | Used for |
|---|---|
| Stage | Pipeline by stage, win rate |
| Amount | Open pipeline, weighted pipeline, bookings |
| Owner / Region | Attainment by rep, value by territory |
| Created / Close date | Trend by week or month, deal age |
| Product / Lead source | Breakdowns and filters |
That is the same shape as the sample sales-pipeline workbook behind the interactive example dashboard, so if your export has those columns you already know roughly what you will get.
The numbers the dashboard shows first
Sheet2Chart reads the columns, picks the KPIs the data can support, and lays them out in about a minute. For a pipeline export that is typically:
- Open pipeline value and weighted pipeline (amount times stage probability, when the export carries one).
- Win rate: closed-won opportunities divided by all closed opportunities, not by everything in the file.
- Average deal size, so a change in total value can be traced to volume or to size.
- A stage chart, a value-by-owner chart, and a weekly trend of pipeline created or closed.
Each chart is a filter: click a stage or a region and every other number narrows with it.
A question you can ask, and what the receipt shows
Suppose the review starts with “which region drove Q3 bookings?” Type the question and the answer arrives with its receipt:
- Measure: Amount, summed
- Filter: Stage = Closed Won, Close date in Q3
- Grouped by: Region, showing the highest total
Anyone in the room can read that and agree, or disagree, with the definition. That is the difference from a number pasted into a slide.
When Excel is enough, and when to upload
If one person owns the pipeline file and refreshes the same PivotTables each week, Excel is a fine fit. The sales dashboard in Excel guide walks through pipeline by stage, win rate, and quota attainment step by step, and the sales dashboard KPIs guide covers which metrics belong on the dashboard in the first place.
Upload the file instead when the questions arrive faster than the pivots: a manager asking mid-meeting, a new export you have never seen, or a rep who wants to check their own number without editing the file.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a connector to my CRM?
No. Start with the CSV or Excel export your CRM already produces. Sheet2Chart reads the file you upload; nothing connects to the CRM itself, and nothing in it is changed.
What columns does a sales export need?
At minimum one row per opportunity with a stage, an amount, an owner or region, and a date (created or close). With those four the dashboard can show pipeline by stage, value by rep, and a trend. Extra columns such as product or lead source become filters.
Can I filter the dashboard to one rep or one quarter?
Yes. Every categorical and date column in the export becomes a filter, and a filter updates every KPI and chart together. Questions you ask use the same filters unless you choose to run them across all data.
How do I know a number is right?
Each answer shows how it was calculated: the measure, how it was aggregated, what it was grouped by, and which filters applied. If the export cannot answer the question, the product says so instead of guessing.
Can I share the dashboard with the team before the review?
Yes. Share a link, or export it when the dashboard is ready. Anyone with the link sees the same numbers and the same receipts.
